U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., recently addressed a range of topics in a series of posts on social media, reflecting on national events, personal experiences, and legislative developments.

On July 13, 2025, Cassidy commemorated the one-year anniversary of an assassination attempt on former President Trump. In his message, he stated: “One year ago, President Trump and the country had a very close call with an assassin’s bullet. Today the country is strong. While we’re thankful for that miracle, please remember those grieving today. Corey Comperatore gave his life shielding his family. Please keep his family in”.

Later that day, Cassidy shared a personal note about enjoying local cuisine: “Had some deep dish pizza. Pepperoni and cheese and Canadian bacon and pineapple. You can feed a small family for a week w one of these” (posted July 13, 2025).

On July 14, 2025, Cassidy highlighted recent policy changes benefiting families in Louisiana and across the nation: “Louisianans deserve support when raising a family. That’s why President Trump and Republicans made the child tax credit PERMANENT in the One, Big, Beautiful Bill.”

Corey Comperatore was recognized posthumously for his actions during the attempted assassination of President Trump; he died while protecting his family at the event.
