U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D., recently used his social media platform to share updates on his legislative efforts and community engagement. On March 19 and 20, Cassidy posted about presiding over Senate debate, meeting with Louisiana students, and congratulating a local basketball team.
On March 19, Cassidy highlighted his role in advancing election legislation: “I presided over the Senate floor yesterday during debate on the SAVE America Act because I’m working to get this bill signed into law. We MUST restore trust in our elections.”
Later that day, he shared an interaction with constituents from Baton Rouge: “Always a great day when I get to hear directly from Louisiana students and educators. Thanks to the parents, teachers, and students from St. Luke’s in Baton Rouge for stopping by!”
On March 20, Cassidy offered congratulations to a university women’s basketball team: “Congrats to @JaguarsWBB on the win last night! #GeauxJags”
Senator Cassidy serves as chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee and sits on several other key committees including Finance; Energy and Natural Resources; and Veterans Affairs (official website). He is known for co-founding the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic to provide free health care services to those without insurance (official website), and he continues work focused on reducing health care costs and improving mental health systems (official website).
