U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), who serves as Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, will lead a roundtable discussion on March 10, 2026, focused on reforming college athletics. The event aims to address ways to protect student-athletes and improve their opportunities for success.
The panel will include Collis Temple, a former Louisiana State University (LSU) basketball player and member of the LSU Athletics Hall of Fame; Julie Cromer, Executive Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Operating Officer at LSU; Jim Carr, President & CEO of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA); Emily Surcey, a former Division I student-athlete and development officer at Samford University Athletics; and Bernard Dennis III, Principal at Jackson Lewis PC.
Cassidy is also seeking input from stakeholders about how Congress can address issues affecting student-athletes. Responses can be submitted to opportunitiesforathletes@help.senate.gov by April 10, 2026.
