U.S. Senator John Kennedy, who represents Louisiana and serves on multiple Senate committees, posted several messages on his official Twitter account between March 20 and March 23, 2026, addressing topics ranging from support for local basketball teams to commentary on national immigration policy and government shutdowns.
On March 20, Kennedy offered encouragement to Louisiana college basketball programs participating in the NCAA tournament. He wrote: “Good luck to Louisiana’s own @LSUwbkb Lady Tigers and Southern @JaguarsWBB in March Madness! These programs have already achieved so much, and I’m thrilled to see their talent on the national stage again.”
Later that day, Kennedy commented on U.S. immigration policy under President Biden. In a post dated March 20, he stated: “You’ve been smoking a doobie if you’re willing to ignore the fact that President Biden admitted millions of people into our country illegally. That clearly undermines the sanctity of our elections. The SAVE America Act would help earn back the American people’s trust.”
On March 23, Kennedy discussed his legislative efforts related to government shutdowns. He wrote: “Today, I tried to pass my resolution to stop senators’ pay during government shutdowns. The Democrats objected without explaining why. My resolution is about shared sacrifice. It’s about—in some small way—sharing the pain of our TSA and other workers at DHS, who are not being”
Senator Kennedy holds degrees from Vanderbilt University (magna cum laude), the University of Virginia School of Law, and Oxford University. He has served as executive editor of the Virginia Law Review and president of his senior class at Vanderbilt.[1] As an active member of Senate committees including appropriations, banking, budget and judiciary,[2] Kennedy also contributes academically as an adjunct professor.[3] His published work covers constitutional law topics.[4]
