Senator John Kennedy, representing Louisiana in the U.S. Senate, shared his views on law enforcement, Democratic strategies regarding political nominees, and NATO defense spending commitments through a series of posts on July 29 and 30, 2025.

On July 29, Kennedy expressed support for police officers, stating: “Cops are the only thing separating us from violent whack jobs. I’m grateful for the hard work they put in every day to keep us safe.”

The following day, Kennedy commented on Democratic tactics during confirmation processes. On July 30 he wrote: “The Democratic playbook of trotting out ‘whistleblowers’ two or three at a time for every nominee they don’t like has lost its efficacy. Last night’s vote to confirm Emil Bove proved that. My Democratic colleagues need a new strategy.” This statement refers to the recent Senate confirmation of Emil Bove.

Later that same day, Kennedy addressed issues related to NATO defense spending: “Some of our NATO friends are trying to weasel out of their commitment to increase their defense spending to 5% of their GDP. That’s unfair to the American people. Read my latest @NewsweekOpinion:” The senator’s comments reflect ongoing debates about member countries’ financial contributions to NATO.

John Kennedy has served as Louisiana’s junior U.S. Senator since 2017 and is known for his outspoken positions on national security and judicial nominations.
