NATCHITOCHES – Bailey Willis of Opelousas was named winner of the 65th Annual Miss Northwestern – Lady of the Bracelet Scholarship Program held Wednesday at Northwestern State University.
Willis, a junior secondary education major, will represent Northwestern State in this summer’s Miss Louisiana Competition. She will receive more than $8,000 in scholarships and prizes. Willis was first runner up in last year’s contest.
Keeley Trahan of Jennings was first runner up.
Willis won the talent competition. Madison Simms of Natchitoches won the Liz Carroll People’s Choice Award. Trahan won the Carley McCord Miss Congeniality Award.
Willis is the daughter of Christopher Willis and Alvada Willis. She is president of the Student Government Association and participated in the Lamar Governor’s Fellows Program. Willis is a member of Helping Hands, Kappa Phi, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, the African-American Caucus and the Presidential Leadership Program. She was a freshman orientation leader and Demon peer mentor.
