U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy visited CF Industries' ammonia production facility in Donaldsonville and the Essential Federal Credit Union in Baton Rouge to learn about local contributions to small businesses and economies. At CF Industries, Cassidy was briefed on the facility's capacity to produce nearly 8 million tons of nitrogen products annually for agricultural and industrial use. The facility leverages its location by the Mississippi River for efficient distribution across major crop-producing states and international markets.

CF Industries is also advancing efforts to produce green ammonia and sequester carbon emissions, aligning with Cassidy’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which allocated $5.1 billion for carbon capture technology. "CF Industries and its employees have done more than anyone else in the world to make clean products," stated Dr. Cassidy. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives for job creation and economic competitiveness.

The Donaldsonville Complex employs 566 permanent staff and 640 contractors, contributing significantly to local taxes and suppliers. Facility General Manager Morris Johnson expressed gratitude for Cassidy's visit, highlighting their commitment to sustainable energy production.

Cassidy's next stop was at the Essential Federal Credit Union, where he engaged with employees and executives from other credit unions about serving their members effectively. Discussions included preserving the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, affordable flood insurance rates, and investments in rural broadband infrastructure.

"Our credit unions always know how their communities are doing," said Dr. Cassidy, stressing the role of affordable flood insurance and broadband investment in strengthening credit unions.

During a roundtable with credit union directors from Louisiana, Anthony Ware II of the Louisiana Credit Union Association thanked Cassidy for his support: "We truly appreciate you taking the time to hear from credit unions on the issues that are important to us."
