U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy has announced that Louisiana will receive $37,885,460.20 in funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for relief efforts related to Hurricanes Ida and Laura. The funds are allocated to assist with emergency protective measures in response to these natural disasters.

The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is set to receive $36,139,364.10 specifically for measures following Hurricane Laura. Additionally, the Office of Risk Management will be granted $1,746,096.12 for similar efforts due to Hurricane Ida.

“In the midst of hurricane season, south Louisiana communities are still recovering from past storms,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Americans, and Louisianans in particular, are resilient and this will help return us to wholeness.”
