The City of Alexandria, Louisiana, has announced the opening of a warming station at the Bolton Avenue Community Center. This initiative comes in response to forecasted cold weather conditions expected to persist through the remainder of the week. The facility is located at 315 Bolton Avenue and will be operational from 6 PM on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, until Friday, February 21, 2025.
The warming station is intended to serve as a refuge for local residents needing shelter from the cold. The city is working in coordination with other agencies to assess and respond to any additional needs that may arise.
"The Warming Station is not equipped to accommodate individuals with special medical needs," city officials have stated. It is essential for visitors to be able to care for themselves and be ambulatory. Additionally, pets are not permitted at the facility as it does not provide services for animals.
For further information or inquiries about the warming station, Michael Caffery, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, can be contacted via email at Michael.caffery@cityofalex.com or by phone at (318) 449-5000. More details can also be found on the city's official website: www.cityofalexandriala.com.
