Twelve students inducted into LSMSA Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica
Twelve students at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) were inducted into the school’s Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica at its annual induction ceremony in November:

The Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica was founded by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese in 1953 for students of North American high schools, and the LSMSA Plus Ultra chapter was established in 2011. Membership in the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica is invitation-only and is based on academic achievement in the Spanish language after at least two semesters of study of the same. To maintain membership throughout high school, a member of the Society must be actively enrolled in a Spanish class each academic year, must have a clean disciplinary record, maintain an average of 90% in Spanish classes taken, and have an LSMSA cumulative GPA of, at least 2.8 at the end of each academic year. Members participate in literary rallies, the Southeastern Louisiana University Annual Foreign Language Festival, hold an annual fundraiser, and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
LSMSA is a residential, public high school for high-achieving rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors with a nominal room and board fee to cover housing, meals, and campus activities.
