Alexandria, La. — Alexandria Utility System (“AUS”) Water Department crews have continued periodically flushing water mains inside Acadian Village subdivision to address sporadic discolored water complaints following last week’s annual fire hydrant flow testing. Beginning the morning of Friday June 30th crews will also begin flushing the City’s 42” water transmission main near its intersection with LA Hwy. 1 South.
The increased water flow volume during the flushing process may cause a temporary but harmless discoloration of water in the Lower Third and Acadian Village areas. Once flushing of the transmission main is complete, crews will be available to address any new discolored water complaints reported. Customers who are still experiencing discolored water after 12:00 noon on Friday are requested to report their complaints via the AlexConnects app or to the Water Dept. at 318-473-1264. Please remember the discoloration is an aesthetic issue caused by dissolved iron particles and not an indication of contamination or other unsafe qualities.
The AUS appreciates your patience as we work to improve the quality of your drinking water.
