Washington, DC - Representatives Julia Letlow (R-LA-05) and Greg Landsman (D-OH-01) have unveiled a bipartisan bill aimed at improving access for child care small businesses across the United States. The legislation, known as the Child Care Small Business Insight and Improvement Act, seeks to enhance the support provided by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to for-profit child care providers.

The proposed legislation includes provisions that would designate a dedicated point-person at the SBA to focus on supporting for-profit child care providers. Additionally, it would require the SBA to conduct a comprehensive study on the needs and challenges faced by these providers, assess the resources currently available to them, and make recommendations to address the obstacles they encounter.

Representative Julia Letlow emphasized the significance of quality and affordable child care, stating, "Quality access to affordable child care is essential for working parents across our nation. As a single mom, I see firsthand how important child care is in order for women to return to the workforce after having children." She further expressed her pride in introducing this bipartisan legislation, as it would enable parents to focus on their work while ensuring child care providers have the necessary resources to succeed and contribute to the economy.

Representative Greg Landsman echoed Letlow's sentiments, emphasizing the importance of increasing access to quality and affordable child care. He highlighted the role of the SBA in this endeavor, stating, "Our legislation would make sure there is a point-person at the federal level whose focus every day is improving child care in our country." In addition, the legislation would require the SBA to conduct an in-depth study of the child care crisis, providing Congress with the necessary information to address the issue effectively.

The Child Care Small Business Insight and Improvement Act aims to address the challenges faced by child care providers, ultimately benefiting children, parents, and the economy as a whole. The full text of the bill can be found on the official government website.

This bipartisan effort demonstrates a commitment to supporting child care small businesses and ensuring that working parents have access to reliable and affordable child care services. By prioritizing the needs of for-profit child care providers and conducting a comprehensive study, the proposed legislation seeks to alleviate the challenges faced by this vital sector of the economy and enable parents to return to the workforce with peace of mind.
