The Superintendent Water Operations, Barrett Dezendorf, has announced a boil water advisory for Ridgewood Blvd in Alexandria, Louisiana. Dezendorf stated, "Repairs to a 6-inch water main on Ridgewood Blvd has resulted in the need for a boil water advisory." Due to the loss of water pressure during the repair process, the water in the affected area may have been compromised. In response, the Alexandria Water Department is taking precautionary measures, with Dezendorf adding, "As a precaution, the Alexandria Water Department is issuing a boil advisory effective immediately."
The boil water advisory is in effect until further notice and is specifically for customers located in the highlighted properties along Ridgewood Blvd. Residents in the advisory area are advised to disinfect their water before consumption by boiling it for one full minute. Additional recommendations include shaking the water to eliminate the flat taste, pouring it between clean containers, or adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of boiled water.
Furthermore, after the boil advisory is lifted, businesses and residences in the affected areas are advised to take specific steps to ensure the safety of their water supply. These include running cold-water faucets and drinking water fountains for one minute, flushing automatic icemakers, running water softeners through a regeneration cycle, and running water coolers with direct water connections for five minutes.
