WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), has expressed his support for the national security supplemental funding bill, which includes $26.4 billion for Israel, following its overwhelming approval by the U.S. Senate with a vote of 79-18.
In a statement, Dr. Cassidy emphasized the importance of standing by allies, particularly in light of recent events, stating, "200 days after Hamas’s barbaric attack on Israeli civilians, the United States is sending a clear message we will not abandon our allies. This bill enables Israel to defend itself while ensuring no U.S. troops are put in harm’s way."
Furthermore, Dr. Cassidy highlighted the resolve of the American people in not allowing tactics that harm civilians, stating, "The American people will not allow Hamas to win a war by killing civilians and using Palestinians as human shields."
The foreign aid package for Israel, which received broad bipartisan support in the Senate, aims to provide crucial resources for Israel's defense capabilities while reaffirming the commitment to the security and well-being of the region.
The bill's passage underscores the significance of U.S. support for allies in the face of security challenges and reaffirms the commitment to promoting stability in the Middle East.
