U.S. Senators Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and 46 Republican colleagues have introduced a resolution condemning any action by the Biden administration to withhold or restrict ammunition or weapons for Israel.
Dr. Cassidy expressed his concern over the potential weakening of their resolve against Hamas, stating, “Now is not the time to send a signal to the world that our resolve to defeat Hamas is weakening.” He urged President Biden to prioritize the interests of their strongest ally in the Middle East instead of aiding and abetting Hamas.
Senator Graham warned about the potential ramifications of President Biden's decision on peace prospects in the Middle East. He stated, “If President Biden continues with his decision to withhold or restrict ammunition and weapons to Israel, he and his administration will have destroyed the last, best chance to build on the Abraham Accords and bring peace to the Middle East for generations."
He emphasized that terrorist groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran are dedicated to eradicating Israel and its people. In response to these threats, he argued that Israel must fight vigorously and that the United States should never abandon its support for Israel.
The resolution was supported by U.S. Senators John Barrasso (R-WY), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), John Boozman (R-AR), Mike Braun (R-IN), Katie Britt (R-AL), Ted Budd (R-NC), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Susan Collins (R-ME), Tom Cotton (R-AR), John Cornyn (R-TX), Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Steve Daines (R-MT), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Deb Fischer (R-NE), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Josh Hawley (R-MO), John Hoeven (R-ND), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Ron Johnson (R-WI), John Kennedy (R-LA), James Lankford (R-OK), Mike Lee (R-UT), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Pete Ricketts (R-NE), Jim Risch (R-ID), Mitt Romney (R-UT), Mike Rounds (R-SD), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Eric Schmitt (R-MO), Rick Scott (R-FL), Tim Scott (R-SC), Dan Sullivan (R-AK), John Thune (R-SD) Thom Tillis, Tommy Tuberville, J.D.
