The Alexandria Police Department has announced the temporary closure of both northbound and southbound lanes of I-49 through Alexandria due to an overturned tractor-trailer. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.

For those needing real-time updates on road conditions, the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) provides several resources. Travelers can access information about road closures via the Louisiana 511 mobile app or by visiting the 511 Traveler Information website at www.511la.org. Additionally, motorists can sign up for MyDOTD at www.dotd.la.gov to receive notifications on local projects, lane and road closures, and other DOTD activities.

Social media platforms also offer updates from DOTD regarding current road status information.

Northbound lanes have been reopened as of February 21, 2025, at 3:15 PM.
