U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced that the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will allocate $9 million to enhance local airports in Louisiana, as part of his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is set to receive $7 million for the construction of the North/South Connector Road’s north phase. This project aims to facilitate direct connectivity between the airport’s terminals and link them to the upcoming passenger rail service facility. Additionally, the Shreveport Airport Authority will be granted $2 million for constructing new terminal gate space.

"Airports drive economic growth at home and are the first impression our state makes to visitors," said Dr. Cassidy. "Thanks to funding from the Infrastructure Law, airport improvements for New Orleans and Shreveport will benefit locals, businesses, and tourists alike."
