U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy has announced that Louisiana will receive $13,692,920 from the U.S. Department of Transportation for pipeline safety improvements. This funding comes from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

"Pipelines play a crucial role in delivering the energy that powers our everyday lives," said Dr. Cassidy. "This investment from the Infrastructure Law will significantly improve the safety and efficiency of Louisiana’s infrastructure and build our economy for 2050."

The IIJA aims to enhance the Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure Safety and Modernization, helping communities across the nation secure their natural gas pipes. Nearly one billion dollars is set to be awarded over five years.

Earlier this year, Senator Cassidy announced more than $52 million in funding for municipalities and gas utility districts aiming to replace old natural gas infrastructure with new pipelines. Additionally, a similar announcement last April detailed over $27 million allocated to cities and towns in south and central Louisiana for comparable projects.
