U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy recently highlighted the "Louisiana Energy Security Summit: Unleashing America Abundance in a Changing Global Landscape" through a new video presentation. The summit, held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in mid-October, gathered leaders from various sectors including government, industry, and research.

During his keynote address and fireside chat at the summit, Cassidy emphasized his Foreign Pollution Fee Act. This legislation aims to level the playing field for American manufacturers by holding China accountable for not enforcing environmental regulations. "Right now, China is taking jobs from the United States by not enforcing environmental regulations. If the United States wants the jobs back, we got to begin to make China pay," stated Dr. Cassidy. He further explained that his act seeks fairness and job creation while eliminating China's cost advantage.

The summit featured ten panels discussing topics such as unfair trade practices affecting U.S. interests, Louisiana's low emissions manufacturing advantage, and natural gas's role in enhancing U.S. geopolitical influence. Participants included executives from companies like Entergy and First Solar, former Trump administration officials, and leaders from major energy firms.

Cassidy has been active in promoting his Foreign Pollution Fee Act alongside U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham to counter Chinese manufacturing advantages and boost American production capabilities.

In September, Cassidy released an episode of "Bill on the Hill" where he discussed China's economic growth impacting American workers and presented strategies addressing economic development linked with national security and environmental concerns.

He has also written editorials in prominent publications about China's geopolitical threat to U.S. global standing and discussed these issues on Newsmax with Greta Van Susteren.

Earlier this year, both chambers of the Louisiana legislature unanimously supported a resolution urging Congress to develop policies countering competition from China.

Previously, Cassidy outlined an energy policy response to current domestic energy challenges under the Biden administration which includes proposals like Energy Operation Warp Speed aimed at reducing permitting obstacles for domestic energy projects.
