U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy announced that Louisiana is set to receive over $5.6 million in federal aid for relief efforts following Hurricanes Laura and Ida. The funding, provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), will be allocated to two major projects within the state.

The Calcasieu Parish School Board is slated to receive $3,327,984.22 for permanent repairs at Sulphur High School, which was impacted by Hurricane Laura. Additionally, the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport will be granted $2,237,062.28 for work on its MSY Campus Facilities due to damage from Hurricane Ida.

“Louisiana remains strong in the aftermath of Hurricanes Laura and Ida,” stated Dr. Cassidy. “This funding will help our communities continue to recover and prepare for the next storm.”
