U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy and West Monroe Mayor Staci Mitchell have emphasized significant investments aimed at boosting the infrastructure of West Monroe. In October, Cassidy announced that the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) awarded West Monroe $1,380,000 from his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). This funding is intended to support the city's growth, development, and economic sustainability.
The City of West Monroe received $509,000 to update and improve 770 feet of sewer infrastructure on Cotton Street and an additional $871,000 for public infrastructure enhancements on Constitution Drive.
"Mayor Mitchell and I share a vision to help West Monroe be better than ever," said Dr. Cassidy. "By teaming up with local officials to bring in resources for infrastructure, we are making a real investment in our state’s economy and workforce. And because of the Infrastructure Law I helped negotiate, North Louisiana and West Monroe are going to see even more dollars headed their way."
"I appreciate Senator Cassidy and the Delta Regional Authority for the infrastructure investments to retain and attract new business growth to West Monroe," said Mayor Mitchell. "These types of grants are so important for smaller cities to help with economic growth."
Funding for these projects comes from the States’ Economic Development Assistance Program (SEDAP), which supports community-based projects focused on public infrastructure, transportation, workforce training, education, small business development with an emphasis on entrepreneurship. The Community Infrastructure Fund (CIF) targets physical infrastructure projects that contribute to building safer communities in the Delta region. DRA collaborates directly with Louisiana's Office of the Governor and local development districts for program funding implementation.
