U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy announced that Louisiana will receive $7,587,832.83 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for relief efforts related to Hurricanes Laura and Ida. The funds are allocated to support permanent repairs in affected areas.

The Office of Risk Management is set to receive $4,020,822.90 specifically for repairing water control structures in Grand Chenier damaged by Hurricane Laura. Additionally, $3,567,009.93 will be directed towards repairing buildings at Southeastern Louisiana University that were impacted by Hurricane Ida.

“Louisiana families still feel the effects of Hurricanes Laura and Ida, but our communities are resilient,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This funding will help South Louisiana continue to rebuild and prepare for future storms.”
