U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy has announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation will provide Louisiana with $2,504,000 from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act for a railroad infrastructure project in Baldwin.

Cassidy emphasized the importance of this investment, stating, “It’s important to invest in Louisiana’s railroads. This funding will make our railroad crossings safer and build our economy for 2050.”

The initiative, known as the Baldwin Railroad Crossing Elimination, Enhancement, and Access Project, aims to construct a public access road along the south side of the track within the BNSF right-of-way. The project is designed to improve safety by addressing historical issues at these locations and resolve blockages for vehicles and emergency responders. Both the Town of Baldwin and BNSF are set to contribute a 20 percent non-Federal match.
