U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy has announced his intention to vote in favor of confirming Pete Hegseth as the 29th U.S. Secretary of Defense. In a statement, Cassidy expressed confidence in Hegseth's qualifications and performance during the Senate Armed Services hearing.
"The President’s pick for Secretary of Defense, Mr. Hegseth, has impressive academic qualifications, conducted himself very well in the Senate Armed Services hearing, and has a commendable record of service in uniform," said Dr. Cassidy. "He assured me he will surround himself with a strong support team," he added.
Cassidy's support adds momentum to Hegseth's nomination as it moves through the confirmation process.
