U.S. Senators Bill Cassidy and Chris Coons, alongside their colleagues, have introduced a resolution to mark AmeriCorps Week, which takes place from March 9 to March 15, 2025. This initiative celebrates the contributions of AmeriCorps members over the past three decades. Founded 30 years ago, AmeriCorps aims to increase national service opportunities while offering educational pathways.

Senator Cassidy highlighted the dedication of AmeriCorps members: “AmeriCorps members dedicate their lives to others. They empower students, support veterans, and build stronger communities,” he stated. “This can’t go unnoticed.”

Senator Coons also expressed appreciation for the program's impact: “More than one million AmeriCorps members have committed themselves to making a positive impact on our nation for over three decades,” he said. He further encouraged those considering service to explore opportunities with AmeriCorps as a means of creating impactful change.

Jennifer Bastress Tahmasebi, Interim Agency Head of AmeriCorps, emphasized the daily contributions made by its members: “Every single day, Americans of all ages dedicate their time to strengthening their communities and our nation as a whole,” she noted. She praised the diverse activities undertaken by AmeriCorps members and volunteers in collaboration with people from various backgrounds.

The resolution is supported by several other senators including Susan Collins, Tammy Baldwin, Dick Durbin, Martin Heinrich, Mazie Hirono, Angus King, Amy Klobuchar, Ben Ray Lujan, Jack Reed, and Jeanne Shaheen.
