AUS crews are assessing damage and working to restore service to Alexandria Utility System customers who remain without power after a severe thunderstorm swept through the area late Saturday afternoon. The major cause of outages was strong winds and fallen tree limbs.

The storm caused scattered outages across the service area. AUS is currently aware of outages in the following areas:

Richmond Drive

Maywood Street

Greenfield Drive

Kirkpatrick Street

North Drive

Twin Bridges Road

Post Oak Blvd.

Bruyninckx Road

Ridgewood Blvd.

Hill Street

Sweetbriar Drive

Cambridge Drive

Idlewood Drive

Habeeb Drive

Castle Village area

Mimi Loop

Heyman Lane

Vesta Street

Coliseum Blvd. @ Heyman Lane

Hera Street

Estimated time of restoration in these areas is early morning Sunday, June 11, 2023. Crews will work thought the night to bring these areas online. Much of the work will require accessing power lines located at the rear of residences which may prove difficult at night.

Remember to stay away and keep children and pets away from downed lines. Treat all downed power lines as if they are energized and dangerous.
