The boil advisory that was issued for Benjamin Street on January 29, 2023, has been lifted. The advisory was put in place due to repairs made to a 6-inch water main by COA personnel. Following the completion of the repairs, the State of Louisiana tested the water and confirmed that it is now safe to consume.
According to Assistant Water Superintendent Luis Saucier, "The results of the tests are clear." The Alexandria Water Department has officially lifted the boil advisory for all businesses and residents located along Benjamin Street.
In light of this development, the City of Alexandria has provided recommendations for businesses and residences in the affected areas. It is advised to run cold-water faucets for one minute, run drinking water fountains for one minute, flush automatic icemakers by making three batches of ice and discarding them, run water softeners through a regeneration cycle, and run water coolers with direct water connections for five minutes.
It is crucial for everyone in the area to follow these recommendations in order to ensure the safety of their water supply. By taking these precautions, the risk of any potential contaminants in the water will be minimized.
