Alexandria, La. (February 7, 2024)—The boil advisory that was issued on Monday, January 29, 2023, for England Drive has now been lifted. The advisory was put in place due to repairs made to a 4-inch water main by COA personnel. However, after conducting tests, the State of Louisiana has determined that the water is now safe to consume.

According to Assistant Water Superintendent Luis Saucier, "The results of the tests are clear." The Alexandria Water Department has officially lifted the boil advisory for all businesses and residents along England Drive.

In light of this development, the City of Alexandria has provided recommendations for those in the affected areas. They advise running cold-water faucets for one minute, running drinking water fountains for one minute, flushing automatic icemakers by making three batches of ice and discarding them, running water softeners through a regeneration cycle, and running water coolers with direct water connections for five minutes.

This news will come as a relief to the residents and businesses along England Drive, who have had to take extra precautions when using water for the past week. It is important to note that with the lifting of the boil advisory, there should be no concerns about the safety of the water in this area.
