Vernon Parish Education: 51 Hawaiian and Pacific Islander students were enrolled in schools in 2023-24 school year

There were 51 Hawaiian and Pacific Islander students enrolled in Vernon Parish schools in the 2023-24 school year, 2% more than the previous year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

Data showed that Vernon Parish welcomed 8,110 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Hawaiian and Pacific Islander students comprised 0.6% of the student body to be the second least represented ethnicity in the parish.

Among the 18 schools within the parish, Leesville High School recorded the highest enrollment of Hawaiian and Pacific Islander students in the 2023-24 school year, with a total of 10 students.

Louisiana's educational performance is among the lowest in the nation, according to a WalletHub analysis. The state was ranked 47th overall, based on factors such as class size, student performance, funding, school safety, and teacher qualifications.
