The City of Alexandria has announced the nomination of a new Utility Director, bringing a familiar face back to lead the Alexandria Utility System. Marcus Connella, a professional engineer with a wealth of experience in the utility and transportation infrastructure sectors, will be taking over the reins from outgoing director Michael Marcotte.

According to Alexandria Mayor Jacques Roy, "Connella will act as interim director and director nominee for the top job, as Michael Marcotte takes this opportunity in a new job to continue his professional growth in the industry’s private sector." The city expressed its gratitude to Marcotte for his years of service and wished him well in his future endeavors.

Marcus Connella, who previously served as the pre-AUS Alexandria utility director, is welcomed back with enthusiasm by the city. Having gained experience in the private sector and working on road infrastructure for the state of Louisiana, Connella is seen as a valuable asset to lead the Alexandria Utility System.

Alexandria is confident that Connella's extensive experience will contribute to a smooth transition and ensure the continued success of the utility system. His background includes roles such as Assistant City Engineer, Water Superintendent, and Acting Director of Utilities for the City of Alexandria, as well as various engineering positions in the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.

Through the appointment of Marcus Connella, the City of Alexandria aims to strengthen its utility practices and ensure future growth and resilience. Connella's return is seen as a strategic move to position Alexandria for success in the years to come.
