Alexandria Fire Department responds to house fire caused by lightning strike

The Alexandria Fire Department responded to 4708 Christopher Place at 8:13 PM for a reported house fire. The first unit arrived on the scene within four minutes of the initial alarm. A full complement of units was on scene within five minutes. AFD dispatched three engine companies, one aerial company, a medical unit, one district chief unit, and a fire investigative unit.

The fire was brought under control within thirty-seven minutes and there were no injuries reported. Investigators have determined the fire was caused by a lightning strike.
