The boil advisory issued on August 16, 2024, for the Hwy 28 Walmart in Alexandria, Louisiana, has been lifted. Repairs to a main line by City of Alexandria personnel necessitated the advisory. The State of Louisiana tested the water and confirmed it is safe, according to Barrett Dezendorf, Superintendent of Water Operations.

The Alexandria Water Department announced that businesses and residents in the affected area can now resume normal water usage. The specific location impacted was Walmart on Hwy 28.

Following the lifting of the advisory, the City of Alexandria recommends that businesses and residences take several precautionary steps:

- Run cold-water faucets for one minute.

- Run drinking water fountains for one minute.

- Flush automatic icemakers by making three batches of ice and discarding them.

- Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle.

- Run water coolers with direct water connections for five minutes.
