MONROE – This morning, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) addressed the Monroe Chamber of Commerce regarding efforts to boost job creation and support small businesses through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). The legislation has led to investments aimed at attracting new residents and entrepreneurs to Monroe.
“I had the privilege of speaking with government and business leaders today,” said Dr. Cassidy. “We talked about the partnership we have to make sure as much of the bipartisan infrastructure bill and other federal resources come to this region to help our people. Businesses take these dollars and create jobs. I am glad to have this partnership.”
The IIJA has facilitated several projects in Monroe, including a $500,000 investment for a passenger rail line connecting Monroe to Ruston, Shreveport, and ultimately Dallas. Additionally, $2.2 million was awarded by the Delta Regional Authority for upgrades near Monroe Regional Airport, and $520,000 was allocated for drinking water improvements in west Sterlington.
