Fire at Westgate Shopping Center prompts swift response from Alexandria Fire Department

The Alexandria Fire Department responded to a fire incident at the Westgate Shopping Center on November 25, 2024. The fire was reported at approximately 12:32 PM at 223 MacArthur Drive. Smoke was seen coming from a vacant suite in the shopping center.

Firefighters arrived within three minutes and found severe fire conditions affecting three suites. Employees and customers were evacuated from one business, while other businesses continued their operations without interruption. No injuries were reported during the incident.

The department dispatched four engine companies, an aerial company, a medical unit, two chief’s units, and a fire investigator to manage the situation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
