The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) and the City of Alexandria have announced that Progressive Construction Company will continue work on Elliott Street starting Monday, February 10, 2025. The project involves removing and replacing sections of concrete pavement.

On Monday, the section of Elliott Street at the intersection with Texas Avenue, just north towards Bolton Avenue, will be closed for repairs. Signs and barricades will be in place to indicate detour routes around this intersection. Motorists are advised to avoid this area to prevent delays due to construction.

Weather permitting, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, the contractor will begin work on Elliott Street between Texas Avenue and the MacArthur Drive service road. This phase is expected to last approximately seven to ten working days. Traffic on Elliott Street will be significantly limited during this time; however, one lane will remain open at all times. "We cannot emphasize enough that there will be significant delays to motorists if they attempt to transit up or down Elliott Street," stated the announcement. Detour signs and barricades will guide motorists who choose to use this section of Elliott Street.
