Fewer students enrolled in Caldwell Parish’s only school district in 2021-22 school year

The only school district in Caldwell Parish suffered declining enrollment in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

There were 1,587 students in the halls of Caldwell Parish School District schools, 0.1% lower than the year before.

Enrollment in Caldwell Parish was steady compared to the state’s trend of decreasing enrollment.

Out of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 51.2% of them were boys, and 48.8% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 79.6% of the Caldwell Parish School Districts total enrollment.

Caldwell Parish School District has a main office in Columbia and is the only school district within Caldwell Parish.

Only 22% of Louisiana’s teachers are Black or Latino, compared to about 48% of the state's K–12 students who identify as either race.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students in Louisiana, which is worse than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.
