LaSalle Parish Education: Fewer students enrolled in Lasalle Parish School District schools in 2021-22 school year

The only school district in LaSalle Parish suffered declining enrollment in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Louisiana Department of Education.

There were 2,553 students in the halls of Lasalle Parish School District schools, 0.3% lower than the year before.

Enrollment in LaSalle Parish was steady compared to the state’s trend of decreasing enrollment.

Out of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 52.2% of them were boys, and 47.8% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 85.5% of the Lasalle Parish School Districts total enrollment.

Lasalle Parish School District has a main office in Jena and is the only school district within LaSalle Parish.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 18 students in Louisiana, which is worse than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.

Only 22% of Louisiana’s teachers are Black or Latino, compared to about 48% of the state's K–12 students who identify as either race.
