WASHINGTON – In a recent statement, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) reiterated his commitment to securing the border and reauthorizing the National Flood Insurance Program. While acknowledging that the solution is not perfect, Cassidy emphasized that it provides more time to find permanent answers, ensures paychecks for troops, and keeps the government open.

"My priorities remain the same. I want to secure the border and reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program," said Dr. Cassidy. "This solution is not perfect, but it gives us more time to find permanent answers, provides a paycheck for our troops, and keeps the government open."

The Senate's decision to fund the government for 45 days follows overwhelming support in the U.S. House of Representatives. With this move, the government shutdown has been successfully averted for the time being.

As the debate on border security and the National Flood Insurance Program continues, Senator Cassidy remains steadfast in his commitment to finding long-term solutions that address these critical issues.
