U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy Announces $967 Million Federal Funding for Louisiana’s Transportation Systems

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) has announced that Louisiana will receive a significant boost in funding for its transportation systems. A total of $967,378,177.00 will be allocated to the state through various programs under the Federal-Aid Highway Program. This funding, made possible by Cassidy's Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), will be distributed throughout Fiscal Year 2024.

Highlighting the importance of this investment, Dr. Cassidy stated, "By investing in our transportation systems, we are building an economy for 2050. This funding will pave safer roads and repair highways that allow Louisiana’s families and businesses to thrive."

The breakdown of the grant awarded and the corresponding programs is as follows:

  • National Highway Performance Program: $545,425,040.00
  • Surface Transportation Block Grant Program: $265,341,911.00
  • Highway Safety Improvement Program: $57,250,225.00
  • Railway-Highway Crossings Program: $4,598,370.00
  • Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality Improvement: $12,975,669.00
  • Metropolitan Planning: $5,900,715.00
  • National Highway Freight Program: $25,323,871.00
  • Pollution Reduction Program: $23,659,654.00
  • PROTECT Formula Program: $26,902,722.00
With this substantial funding, Louisiana can now focus on creating a robust transportation network that supports the state's economic growth and enhances the safety of its residents and businesses.
