WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) has announced that the Southwest Louisiana Hospital Association will receive $1,110,898.62 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for mold remediation in the aftermath of Hurricane Laura.

"Lake Charles is stronger than any storm, especially Hurricane Laura," said Dr. Cassidy. "This funding will help our medical system return to wholeness."

The funding provided by FEMA is aimed at assisting the healthcare facilities in the region to recover and rebuild after the devastating impact of Hurricane Laura. The hurricane, which made landfall in August 2023, caused extensive damage to infrastructure, including hospitals and medical centers.

The Southwest Louisiana Hospital Association plays a crucial role in providing healthcare services to the community, and this funding will go towards mold remediation, which is necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of both patients and medical staff.

The announcement of this funding comes as a relief to the residents of Southwest Louisiana, who have been grappling with the aftermath of Hurricane Laura for several months. The storm left a trail of destruction, causing widespread power outages, property damage, and displacing many residents from their homes.

Senator Cassidy's commitment to securing this funding demonstrates his dedication to supporting the recovery efforts in the region. The funds will contribute significantly to the restoration of the healthcare system, which is vital in providing essential medical services to the community.

The impact of Hurricane Laura has been felt across the state, and the road to recovery has been challenging. However, with the support of government agencies like FEMA and the commitment of leaders like Senator Cassidy, progress is being made.

In conclusion, the announcement of $1.1 million for Southwest Louisiana in Hurricane Laura relief is a significant step towards rebuilding the community and restoring critical healthcare services. As Senator Cassidy rightly stated, "Lake Charles is stronger than any storm." With continued support and funding, Southwest Louisiana will recover and emerge stronger than ever before.
