U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) has announced that the Sewerage District No.1 of Iberia Parish will receive a significant investment of $3.1 million from the U.S. Department of Commerce for wastewater infrastructure. This funding will contribute to the ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure in the parish, which already includes the recent $1.1 billion investment by First Solar in an American energy manufacturing plant.

The investment by First Solar, which was announced in August, is expected to create 700 new jobs with an annual payroll of at least $40 million.
