Congresswoman Letlow stated, “My number one mission in Congress is to give back to our communities. My office and I worked hard to secure the millions in funding that will be crucial for Louisiana’s economic growth and prosperity." Letlow emphasized the positive impact of the funding on various sectors in Louisiana, including the crawfish industry, USDA programmatic and agricultural research, veterans' healthcare programs, law enforcement programs, and Second Amendment rights.

The Community Project Funding for LA-05 includes allocations such as $9 million for the Alexandria International Airport, $5 million for the Columbia Port Commission, and $4 million for the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. These funds will support critical infrastructure improvements and expansions in the region.

In the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies subcommittee, significant funding was allocated for food programs supporting Louisiana agriculture producers, aflatoxin mitigation research, and sugarcane variety development research. The funding also includes support for programs benefiting youth development, precision agriculture initiatives, and research into West Nile Virus affecting farm-raised alligators.

Under the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies subcommittee, funding was designated for programs such as the National Science Foundation Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research and the Department of Justice Byrne Justice Assistance Grants program. These allocations aim to support scientific research in Louisiana universities and provide federal funding for state and local law enforcement.

In the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies subcommittee, funding was secured for projects related to the Delta Regional Authority, Army Corps of Engineers, and Department of Energy's programs on energy efficiency and renewable energy. These investments will contribute to infrastructure improvements, research, and development in Louisiana.

The Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies subcommittee allocated funds for initiatives like the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s North American Wetlands Conservation Fund and the National Park Service’s American Battlefield Protection Program, aiming to preserve habitats and historical sites in Louisiana.

Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies funding includes support for programs like the Federal Ship Financing Program, Federal Aviation Administration workforce development, and the Federal Highway Administration Promoting Resilient Operations program. These allocations will bolster transportation infrastructure and workforce development in the state.

Lastly, the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies subcommittee fully funded veterans’ healthcare programs and provided investments in military construction projects, focusing on the Pacific theater. The funding also protects the Second Amendment rights of veterans by preventing the VA from sharing information with the FBI without a judge's consent.

These substantial investments across various sectors are crucial for the economic growth and prosperity of Louisiana, particularly benefiting small communities in the Fifth District. Congresswoman Letlow affirmed her commitment to continue working through the appropriations process to secure additional funding for the region.
