WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) has revealed that Louisiana is set to receive $9,443,947.91 in Hurricane Ida relief aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The funding will be allocated to assist in the recovery efforts following the devastation caused by the hurricane.
The relief package includes $2,502,080.10 designated for Lafourche Parish Hospital Service District to support emergency protective measures in response to Hurricane Ida. Additionally, Dixie Electric Membership Corporation (DEMCO) will receive $6,941,867.81 aimed at facilitating line and facility repairs necessitated by the impact of the hurricane.
In a statement regarding the allocation of funds, Dr. Cassidy emphasized the resilience of Louisiana in the face of adversity, stating, "Louisiana’s ongoing recovery from Hurricane Ida is a testament to our resilience." He further highlighted the significance of the FEMA funding in aiding the rebuilding of communities and fortifying them against future natural disasters, remarking, "This funding helps rebuild our communities and makes sure we are better prepared to weather the next storm."
