Fire at Americas Best Value Inn quickly contained by local fire departments

The Alexandria Fire Department responded to a fire at the Americas Best Value Inn on December 1, 2024. The incident occurred at approximately 11:04 AM when both the Alexandria Fire Department and Rapides Fire District #2 were dispatched to the location at 1146 MacArthur Drive.

The first unit arrived within three minutes of the alarm, and the fire was controlled in seven minutes. No injuries were reported. The Alexandria Fire Department sent three engine companies, an aerial company, a medical unit, one district chief’s unit, and a fire investigator. Rapides Parish Fire District #2 contributed two engine companies and a chief’s unit.

An investigation revealed that the fire was accidental, caused by a discarded cigarette.
