BATON ROUGE – On Tuesday evening, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) had the honor of throwing the first pitch at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge as the LSU Tigers faced off against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions in a baseball game.
"If you and your family want to have a good time, spend a night at The Box," said Dr. Cassidy, capturing the excitement of the evening. "Geaux Tigers and Geaux Lions!" The enthusiasm for both teams was palpable in the air.
The game concluded with LSU emerging victorious over Southeastern with a final score of 8 to 4. LSU's impressive performance added to their successful season record of 20-6, securing a ninth-place ranking nationally, following their 2023 national championship win. The Tigers continue to be guided by head coach Jay Johnson, maintaining their strong position in the league.
In contrast, Southeastern, led by first-year coach Bobby Barbier, displayed a commendable performance with a season record of 17-8, despite the loss to LSU.
After the game, Senator Cassidy received appreciation from Mr. Scott Woodward, the Athletic Director at Louisiana State University, for his presence and support at the event. "It was great to have Senator Bill Cassidy throw out the first pitch at our game versus Southeastern last night," expressed Mr. Woodward. "He is a strong supporter of LSU and our student-athletes, and we appreciate what he does for us. Geaux Tigers!"
