The boil advisory issued on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, for the Plantation Drive area has been lifted. The advisory was put in place following repairs to a six-inch water main conducted by City of Alexandria personnel. According to Superintendent of Water Operations Barrett Dezendorf, the State of Louisiana has tested the water and confirmed that it is now safe.

The Alexandria Water Department announced that businesses and residents along Plantation Drive are no longer required to boil their water. A detailed map of the affected properties is available.

With the lifting of the advisory, the City of Alexandria recommends that businesses and residences in the affected areas take several precautionary measures:

- Run cold-water faucets for one minute.

- Run drinking water fountains for one minute.

- Flush automatic icemakers by making three batches of ice and discarding them.

- Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle.

- Run water coolers with direct water connections for five minutes.
