The Alexandria Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 100 block of 16th Street late on December 7, 2024. The department was dispatched at approximately 11:50 PM, with the first unit arriving within two minutes of the initial alarm.

The response included three engine companies, a ladder company, a medical unit, one district chief’s unit, and a fire investigator. During the suppression efforts, firefighters discovered a deceased adult inside the structure. Additionally, one firefighter sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators from both the Alexandria Fire and Police Departments are collaborating to determine the cause of the fire and the death of the adult.
