U.S. Senators Bill Cassidy, Katie Britt, and Ted Budd, along with 32 Republican colleagues, have introduced the Laken Riley Act in the Senate. The act, named after Laken Riley, aims to address issues related to illegal aliens who commit crimes in the United States.

“The murder of Laken Riley shows why we need border policies to protect all Americans,” stated Dr. Cassidy, emphasizing the importance of securing the southern border to prevent tragedies like this.

Senator Britt pointed out that Laken Riley's murder was a result of open border policies and stressed the importance of detaining and deporting criminal illegal aliens to prevent further tragedies. She urged for immediate consideration of the Laken Riley Act in the Senate.

Senator Budd echoed these sentiments, highlighting the need for states to be able to protect their citizens from lawless immigration policies. He emphasized the importance of preventing senseless tragedies like the one that befell Laken Riley.

Representative Collins, who originally introduced the legislation in the House, expressed gratitude for Senator Britt's efforts in advancing the Laken Riley Act in the Senate. He emphasized the bipartisan support for the bill and the need to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

The Laken Riley Act has already passed the House with a bipartisan vote and is now awaiting consideration in the Senate. The cosponsors are urging Senate Majority Leader Schumer to bring the bill to the floor for a vote without delay.

A coalition of Republican senators, including Mitch McConnell, Marsha Blackburn, and Mike Lee, among others, have joined Cassidy, Britt, and Budd in supporting the Laken Riley Act and advocating for its swift passage in the Senate.
