Cassidy announces $3.9 million for Louisiana hurricane relief

On July 10, 2024, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced that Louisiana will receive $3,920,157.84 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for relief efforts related to Hurricanes Laura and Ida.

Lafourche Parish is set to receive $1,751,284.40 in federal funding for the permanent restoration of the Tourist Commission Building due to damage caused by Hurricane Ida. Additionally, the Society of the Roman Catholic Church of the Diocese of Lake Charles will be allocated $2,168,873.44 for the reconciliation of management costs incurred as a result of Hurricane Laura.

"Louisiana remains strong in the aftermath of Hurricanes Laura and Ida," said Dr. Cassidy. "This funding helps rebuild our churches and communities to ensure they are prepared when the next storm hits."
