After the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources voted to advance the Reinvesting in Shoreline Economies & Ecosystems (RISEE) Act, there has been significant support for the legislation. The bill, introduced by U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), aims to amend the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) and establish a new funding stream from future offshore wind development dedicated to coastal protection and resiliency.

The RISEE Act seeks to facilitate more equitable resource sharing among states, the federal government, and conservation programs.
